I've been flying with Barnes for 6+ years now and they are very easy to work with and always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Booking flights are as easy as making a call or making a reservation in person. If you want to book a particular instructor, I would plan more in advance by a week or two to make sure you get the time slot, instructor you want and aircraft for your lesson. Also, WJF is a great airport to fly out of for practice talking to tower as it isn't busy, for the most part. The most traffic I've had was probably 4-5 people within the class D airspace. Most of all, have fun and be safe!
There are no words that could ever describe the full magnitude of my appreciation for EVERYONE over at Barnes Aviation, especially for Mr. "Stambo."
This man surely deserves so much more praise than I could ever give him. He not only took his time to show my son how to inspect a plane before and after take off, but he also showed him how to "actually" fly a plane as well.
Now, if that wasn't already enough, he took the liberty of answering all of my son's questions in regards to flying, what courses to take, what occupations to look into, etc...
I could keep going and going about just how amazingly awesome this guy really is, but that'd probably take me all day,
So, keeping it in short, what I'll say is, "All in all, I'm just glad that it was Stambo who took my son out for his 1st flight, because no one else could've achieved such success in helping to create this Memory that'll be sure to last a Lifetime."
Thank you, Stambo
& God bless. ❤️🏻💯
I’ve been flying with Barnes Aviation for about a year now. After living all over the country I can say I love this place! Great aircraft mix (probably the best I’ve seen) and the atmosphere reminds me of the old days where pilots hung out and drank coffee. You’ll see plenty of that at Barnes. The instructors are top notch and the aircraft well maintained and equipped. Christine, who works the desk, is amazing. Super friendly and always willing to help out (or look the other way when you’re running a tad late lol). If you ever get the chance to fly with Stambo, you’re in for a treat.
I have been learning to fly with Barnes since March 2017, they have been excellent in their teaching process. Their aircraft are incredibly competitively priced and well maintained. The have instructors are keen to teach, do a good job and will work around your schedules as required. I highly recommend them as a flight school. The only, minor, downside is they are quite busy and you have to get in early to book the time slots that you want.
