The Farnborough International Airshow 2024 marked its busiest event in decades, boasting a 33% increase in visitors, a 57% rise in delegation attendance, and commercial deals exceeding $105 billion. This year’s show, held from July 22 to 26, saw unprecedented participation, setting new benchmarks for the aviation industry.

The event welcomed over 100,000 visitors, 1,500 exhibitors from more than 60 countries, and showcased 90 civil and military aircraft. Additionally, it attracted over 390 civil, military, and space delegations, reinforcing its status as a premier global aerospace event.

Opening by UK Prime Minister

The airshow was inaugurated by the UK’s new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, who introduced Skills England, an initiative aimed at offering opportunities to ambitious young individuals, particularly those interested in apprenticeships.

Government Hub and Live Stream Highlights

The newly introduced UK Government Hub provided a unique platform for political, industry, and international stakeholders to demonstrate the government’s support for the UK’s aerospace, defence, and space sectors. Another first for this year was a dedicated air display live stream, in partnership with Aerospace Global News, which garnered over 178,000 views throughout the week.

Pioneers of Tomorrow

The airshow dedicated a day to the Pioneers of Tomorrow, focusing on inspiring, engaging, and recruiting the next generation of aerospace professionals. With an extended flying display and a Careers Hub, the event welcomed over 20,000 public visitors and provided industry exhibitors with the opportunity to meet potential recruits.

CEO’s Remarks

Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International, expressed his delight:

“This week, Farnborough International Airshow has delivered for the aerospace, space and defence industries, across the show floor also achieving huge global media reach showcasing the apex of aviation.

“Farnborough International’s role has evolved substantially, progressing to an internationally esteemed change agent with significant influence that powers excellence and innovation. Labelled as the ‘most important event in the aerospace calendar’ by our exhibitors, the airshow is a physical manifestation of that unrelenting progress.”

Looking Forward to 2026

More than 100 companies have already rebooked for the 2026 event, scheduled for July 20-24 at Farnborough International’s Exhibition & Conference Centre. Prominent names like Bell, Viasat, Reaction Engines, MBDA, and Northrop Grumman are among the early rebookings.
